I’m hoping that you can get a lot of your questions answered on my site… Just look at the tabs up above for detail on each topic. If that doesn’t cover it maybe go to instructables.com

I’m living in Zurich planning to build a bamboo bike as a “Maturaarbeit”. Check out my blog in wich I will document the steps I do. Maybe we can help each other with advises.Do you wanna my email? where are you from? Where have you bought your Bamboo? There are lots of question we could discuss :-).

I now have finished pictures of my bike, instead of just a frame, and have posted my buildup process along with lots of pictures on my blog here:

Great looking bikes you have presented here! I’m just curious, what species of bamboo is used for this? I have about 20 varieties planted in my yard and can think of about 3 that might be useful for this.

I talk about bamboo choice here: https://bamboobike.wordpress.com/getting-started/. I have also seen people use iron bamboo. If you have any insights you want to share feel free! Thanks for your interest.

First bike (see “Paul W’s Bike” above) was unknown species.
Next bike is using Tonkin bamboo which I have already purchased — I’ll send in more info as that build progresses.

Do you know how much carbon tow would be necessary for the build of one bike? 12k or 50k? I have yet to find any info on this.

I haven’t built one with carbon tow yet…. any ideas anyone?
